Google has previewed a set of Gemini-driven features for Google TV at CES 2026, aimed at making on-screen discovery, personal media and device control more conversational and visual.
Google Gemini is Google’s family of AI models and assistant features, designed to understand prompts in natural language and generate helpful responses across Google products and devices.
The company says Gemini responses on the smart TV platform will shift to a new “visually rich” format, combining imagery, video and real-time sports updates. For more involved queries, Google is adding “Deep dives”, which provide narrated, interactive explainers designed to make complex subjects easier for the whole household to follow.
Google is also expanding how Gemini works with personal content. Users will be able to search their Google Photos library for specific people or moments, apply artistic styles using Photos Remix, and turn collections into cinematic-style slideshows. On supported devices, Google’s Nano Banana and Veo models will also be used to reimagine photos or generate original media directly on the TV.
Another focus is simplifying TV setup and tuning. Instead of navigating menus, viewers will be able to use natural language prompts such as “the screen is too dim” or “the dialogue is lost” to adjust picture and sound while continuing to watch.
Google said the features will arrive first on select TCL devices, before expanding to other Google TV hardware and additional surfaces, including projectors, over the coming months.
