OKAST deploys BCNEXXT’s Vipe playout to boost FAST operations

OKAST has implemented BCNEXXT’s cloud-native Vipe playout platform as it looks to speed up channel launches.
The move comes as FAST and ad-supported streaming changes emphasis from rapid rollout to performance and efficiency.
The OTT platform provider said it wanted a playout approach better aligned with modern FAST economics, where flexibility and speed-to-launch can directly impact revenue. Vipe uses a containerised, microservices architecture designed to scale resources based on scheduling needs, rather than relying on fixed, peak-provisioned infrastructure.
OKAST says the deployment supports premium channel workflows including live output and enhanced presentation, while helping it avoid vendor lock-in as it expands distribution beyond France. The company added that it currently operates across AWS and Akamai, and needs playout that can work across multiple cloud environments.
The companies also positioned the deal in the context of European “sovereignty” and evolving ad formats. OKAST is involved in the EU-backed ASAP4EU consortium focused on advanced advertising solutions for European AVOD and FAST services.
