[HOW TO FLASH] how to flash Golden Interstar XPEED LX2
To flash the Golden Interstar XPEED LX2, you will follow the classic Broadcom bootloader procedure. The LX2 is the dual-tuner “little brother” to the LX3, and while the process is nearly identical, the folder name on your USB stick must be specific to this hardware.
1. Preparation
- USB Stick: Use a high-quality USB 2.0 stick. For older receivers like the LX2, a capacity of 8GB or smaller is best.
- Format: Ensure the stick is formatted to FAT32 (a “Full Format” is safer than a “Quick Format”).
- Firmware: Download the image specifically for the XPEED LX2 (OpenATV, OpenPLi, etc.).
2. Folder Structure
The bootloader identifies the update via the xpeedlx directory.
- Extract the downloaded firmware .zip file on your computer.
- You should see a folder named xpeedlx.
- Copy the entire xpeedlx folder to the root of your USB stick.
- Path: USB:\xpeedlx\
- Contents: Inside the folder, you should see files like kernel.bin, rootfs.bin, and imageversion.
3. The Flashing Process
- Power Off: Turn off the receiver using the rocker switch at the back.
- Insert USB: Plug the USB stick into the rear USB port.
- Power On: Flip the back rocker switch to ON.
- Initiate Flash:
- Watch the front panel VFD display.
- When the receiver detects the files, it will display a message like “Update? Press Vol+”.
- Quickly press the VOLUME UP [^] button on the front panel of the receiver.
- Wait: The display will show the flashing progress. This usually takes about 3 to 5 minutes. Do not turn off the power.
- Completion: The receiver will reboot automatically once finished.
