QBC launches 4K business channel on Eutelsat

Qatar Media Corporation has launched QBC Business Economic Channel in 4K/UHD via Eutelsat’s 7/8° West video neighbourhood.

The channel, which went live on May 5, is described as the first of its kind in Qatar and one of the first end-to-end 4K and SMPTE 2110 economic channels in the Middle East and North Africa.

QBC will provide financial news, market insight and expert analysis to audiences across the region.

Eutelsat said the launch reinforces 7/8° West as MENA’s leading video neighbourhood, carrying around 900 TV channels and reaching more than 66 million satellite TV homes.

Hamad Elbordini, sales director, MENA, Eutelsat Video Business Unit, said the launch demonstrated growing demand for premium, high-quality content in the region.

QBC engineering consultant Eng. Samer Younis said the channel would reflect the evolution of Qatar’s economy and global markets, while delivering a high-quality and reliable viewing experience.
