AMC+ is to become the exclusive US streaming home for 13 seasons of Doctor Who, covering the modern BBC Studios-produced series from 2005 to 2022.
The deal does not include the two most recent seasons starring Ncuti Gatwa, which were produced in partnership with Disney+. That agreement is not being renewed, with BBC Studios understood to be seeking a new international partner for future seasons.
From June 11, AMC+ will offer 176 episodes and specials featuring Doctors played by Christopher Eccleston, David Tennant, Matt Smith, Peter Capaldi and Jodie Whittaker.
The launch coincides with the 20th anniversary of the series’ US premiere and a limited-time AMC+ annual subscription offer of $29.99.
Courtney Thomasma, EVP of AMC Global Media’s linear and streaming products, said Doctor Who strengthens AMC+ as a destination for “premium genre storytelling”.
Lawrence Szabo, EVP of content sales, North America & LatAm at BBC Studios, said AMC+ was “the ideal exclusive U.S. streaming partner” for the 13 seasons.
Doctor Who joins AMC+’s genre portfolio, which includes The Walking Dead Universe, Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches, Interview with the Vampire, Orphan Black, A Discovery of Witches and Snowpiercer.
