Telenor flattens structure to centre on local markets

Telenor is reshaping its organisation, removing layers of management and moving to a more country-focused structure as part of the operational and financial targets unveiled at its Capital Markets Day.

The operator will replace its existing Nordics, Asia, Amp and Infrastructure business areas with a simplified model centred on local markets. The change means the CEOs of Telenor Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland’s DNA will join group management directly.

The changes take effect from August 18 and are intended to bring customer and market decision-making closer to the operating businesses.

Chief executive Benedicte Schilbred Fasmer said the move supports the strategy outlined at Telenor’s November Capital Markets Day and is aimed at accelerating execution and long-term growth.

The new management structure creates a dedicated technology and transformation function led by Jon Omund Revhaug, currently head of Asia, with responsibility for technology-driven simplification and group efficiencies.

A new corporate development unit headed by Inger Gløersen Folkeson will oversee future growth assets including the Amp portfolio, AI Factory, Skygard and Sovereign Cloud initiatives.

Telenor Asia will continue as a standalone business unit alongside the Nordic operations, with recruitment under way for a new regional head.

The company said the restructuring will materially reduce administrative costs and support recently announced financial goals, including low-to-mid single-digit EBITDA growth and improved free cash flow through to 2028 and 2030.
