Movistar Plus has extended its long-running partnership with the DP World Tour through to 2031, securing exclusive rights to the circuit and future editions of the Ryder Cup, including the tournament’s return to Spain in 2031.
The new agreement strengthens Movistar Plus’ position as Spain’s leading golf broadcaster and ensures continuity for a sport that has been a key part of its premium sports portfolio for more than 15 years.
A major attraction of the deal is the inclusion of the 2031 Ryder Cup, which will be staged at Camiral Golf & Wellness. The event will mark the first Ryder Cup to be held in Spain since the famous 1997 edition at Valderrama Golf Club, where Seve Ballesteros led Team Europe to victory.
The agreement gives Movistar Plus exclusive access to the full DP World Tour schedule through to the end of the decade, including many of the sport’s most prestigious tournaments and the leading international players competing across Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Africa.
The renewal comes at a time of significant change in professional golf, with established tours facing growing competition from rival circuits and new commercial partnerships. By securing rights until 2031, Movistar Plus is positioning itself for long-term stability in a rapidly evolving marketplace.
Beyond the DP World Tour and Ryder Cup, the broadcaster already offers one of Europe’s most comprehensive golf portfolios. Its dedicated channel, Movistar Golf, carries all four men’s majors — The Masters, PGA Championship, U.S. Open and The Open Championship — alongside LIV Golf, the Asian Tour, LPGA Tour, Ladies European Tour and the five women’s major championships.
The deal underlines the continued importance of premium live sport in pay television strategies, with golf remaining one of the few sports capable of delivering year-round live programming and a highly engaged audience.
For the DP World Tour, the agreement guarantees long-term visibility in one of Europe’s most important golf markets, while for Movistar Plus it secures exclusive access to one of the sport’s biggest events as anticipation builds towards the Ryder Cup’s return to Spanish soil in 2031.
