Dog & Cat TV is continuing its European rollout with a launch in Slovakia, marking the channel’s third international market following deployments in France and the Netherlands.

The pet-focused television channel, operated by the SECOM Group in partnership with Channels CZ, will launch on June 15 exclusively on Orange Slovakia.

The move follows the channel’s carriage on CANAL+ platforms in France and its more recent launch on KPN in the Netherlands, as the company looks to capitalise on growing demand for specialist pet-themed content across Europe.

Nela Pavlouskova, CEO of TV Channels at the SECOM Group, said Slovakia and the Czech Republic represented natural growth markets because of their strong pet ownership culture.

“Originally from the Czech Republic, I am delighted to see Slovakia, and soon the Czech Republic, join the territories where Dog & Cat TV will be deployed,” she said.

Dog & Cat TV’s programming strategy is built around four content pillars: information, advice, lifestyle and entertainment, covering topics including pet health, nutrition, training, documentaries and reality-based formats.

The Slovak launch will also introduce a number of new programmes including Dog’s Best Friend: Cutest Canine Companions, Danger Dogs, Mon maître est une célébrité, Cat Hospital and Pooch Perfect.

Eva Sedláčková of sales agency Channels said the channel addresses a growing audience interest in pets as family members.

“I am pleased that we are expanding our portfolio with Dog & Cat TV. I see life with pets as a very current social topic. It concerns the vast majority of us, regardless of age, social status or lifestyle,” she said.

The expansion reflects a wider trend towards highly targeted thematic channels in both pay-TV and streaming environments, as operators seek differentiated content to complement mainstream entertainment and sport offerings.

The company indicated that a Czech Republic launch is expected to follow, further extending Dog & Cat TV’s footprint across Central Europe.
