Television viewing in Poland declined sharply in May as warmer weather encouraged viewers away from their screens, according to the latest edition of Nielsen’s The Gauge Poland.
Average daily TV viewing fell to 3 hours and 36 minutes per day, down 15 minutes compared with April and 14 minutes lower than May 2025. Last year’s figures were boosted by coverage of Poland’s presidential election debates, which attracted significant audiences.
Despite the overall decline, major entertainment events continued to draw viewers to traditional television. The Eurovision Song Contest on TVP1 and Polsat Hit Festiwal were among the month’s biggest audience drivers, alongside established ratings performers such as TVP2’s drama series M jak Miłość and TVN’s flagship news programme Fakty.
Streaming also saw a slight decline in viewing share during the month, falling from 10.9% of total television usage in April to 10.7% in May. However, YouTube strengthened its position as Poland’s leading streaming platform, increasing its share from 2.3% to 2.4%.
Netflix also recorded modest growth, rising from a 1.7% share in April to 1.8% in May.
The figures suggest that seasonal factors affected both traditional television and streaming consumption, with audiences spending less time in front of screens overall as temperatures increased across the country.
