The Jeff Bezos-backed Blue Origin rocket business is saying that it will fly its powerful New Glenn variant more than 50 times annually by 2030 and building to more than 120 flights annually by 2035.
Currently, Blue Origin is rebuilding its Florida launch pad which was seriousely damaged in an explosion on a pre-flight static test of the rocket’s engines on May 28th.
Blue Origin is planning to make another launch later this year once the repairs are wrapped. Blue Origin CEO Dave Limp said the launchpad had been cleared of debris and that reconstruction began last week.
“We’re going to fly this year, which could be a major risk. Launching too soon after a major disaster, only to have another critical failure, could do more harm than good to Blue Origin’s future commitments with NASA and other customers,” said Limp.
