Vincent Grivet has been re-elected as Chair of the HbbTV Association for a further two-year term, following the appointment of a new Steering Group for 2026-2028.
Grivet, representing Eutelsat, was returned as Chair by the newly elected Steering Group, with Jon Piesing of TP Vision re-elected as Vice-Chair and Xavi Redon of Cellnex Telecom continuing as Treasurer.
The 15-member Steering Group combines continuity with new representation. Vestel joins the executive body for the first time, while the UK’s Digital TV Group returns to the Steering Group. Skyworth also joins following its expansion into the European television market through its Panasonic TV partnership.
The Association also welcomed Xiaomi and eJoyful as new full members, taking HbbTV’s total membership to 60 organisations.
Over the next two years, the Association will focus on completing the HbbTV 2.0.6 specification, progressing its All-IP and HbbTV 3.0 roadmap, strengthening integration with DVB-I, launching new Application Interest Groups and continuing investment in interoperability testing.
The General Assembly also approved changes to the Association’s membership structure. From July, HbbTV will introduce new Small Member and Associate Member categories aimed at attracting start-ups and organisations wishing to participate in specific application groups, alongside its first increase in membership fees since the Association was founded.
Vincent Grivet said the election brought “real change alongside strong continuity”, highlighting the addition of new Steering Group members, the arrival of Xiaomi and eJoyful, and the Association’s expanded membership options. He said the completion of HbbTV 2.0.6, work on an All-IP roadmap and the launch of Application Interest Groups meant the next two years would present “some of the most significant opportunities in the Association’s history.”
The Association also confirmed that the 14th HbbTV Symposium and Awards will be held in Barcelona on 18-19 November, co-hosted by Catalan public broadcaster 3Cat.
