Music Box Group has launched its full music television portfolio in France through Free, part of the iliad Group, making seven channels available to subscribers.
The rollout gives Free customers access to Music Box Classic in the basic TV package, while six additional channels, Music Box Hits, Music Box Dance, Music Box Sexy, Music Box 80s, Music Box 90s and Music Box 00s, are offered in a dedicated Music Box bundle. The combined offer spans current chart hits, dance music, genre-focused programming and decade-based nostalgia formats.
The launch positions Music Box as a curated alternative to algorithm-led music discovery. According to the company, the channels are built by music editors who select and sequence videos by genre, mood and audience, with an emphasis on linear, lean-back viewing rather than on-demand consumption.
The programming mix extends beyond music videos to include short-form editorial elements such as themed compilations, charts, artist features, music facts and interview highlights.
“Our goal is to offer French viewers a fresh and modern approach to music television, adapted to the streaming era but still built around the simple pleasure of turning on the TV and enjoying great music. Music Box is not just another playlist. It is a curated television experience created by people who understand music and know how to make it flow,” said Serge Kobel, Managing Director of Music Box Group.
Originally launched in the United Kingdom in 1984, Music Box Group operates from Warsaw and Prague and runs a portfolio of linear music channels distributed across pay-TV, OTT and FAST platforms. France becomes the 18th country in which its channels are available, alongside markets including Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Tanzania and Kenya.
According to the company, the expansion strengthens its international footprint across Europe and Africa, where its channels now reach a total of more than 22 million subscribers.
