Rural broadband provider Voneus has launched a broadband-delivered television service in partnership with Netgem, bringing live TV, streaming apps and cloud gaming to customers without the need for a satellite dish or aerial.

TV by Voneus is powered by Netgem’s PLEIO platform and is available to the company’s 27,000 customers across its gigabit-capable network, which covers more than 100,000 premises. The service is delivered through a compact set-top box and includes access to Freely live television services, on-demand streaming apps and cloud gaming over a broadband connection.

Voneus said the launch is aimed at rural communities, where television reception can be more challenging and broadband coverage still lags behind urban areas. The company said the service gives customers a single interface for live and on-demand content, with prices starting at £12 a month as an add-on to its broadband packages.

The partnership also expands the reach of Netgem’s PLEIO entertainment platform, which combines free-to-air television, streaming services and cloud gaming for broadband providers.
