Dyn and the Handball-Bundesliga have extended their media partnership through the end of the 2031-32 season, securing the streaming platform’s exclusive rights to Germany’s top domestic handball competitions across Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
The renewed agreement covers the Handball-Bundesliga, the 2. Handball-Bundesliga, the DHB-Pokal including the Lidl Final4, and the Rexel Super Cup. The previous contract had been due to run until the end of the 2028-29 season.
Under the long-term extension, fans will continue to be able to watch all matches live and on demand exclusively on Dyn throughout the DACH region.
The agreement provides both parties with long-term planning certainty as they seek to further grow the sport’s audience. According to the league, the average audience per Bundesliga match increased by 20% in the 2025-26 season compared with the previous campaign. Citing data from the Allensbach market and media analysis, the league also said that almost 27 million people in Germany are now interested in handball, representing growth of more than 10% since 2023.
Since its launch in August 2023, Dyn has expanded its handball coverage and from next season will offer all major domestic and international handball competitions, with the Handball-Bundesliga remaining at the centre of its portfolio.
“Our partnership with Dyn has been a great success for professional handball in Germany. In the first three years of our reliable and highly effective partnership, we have succeeded in significantly increasing the media presence of our professional leagues,” said Frank Bohmann, Managing Director of Handball-Bundesliga.
Bohmann added: “Since the beginning of our collaboration, we have achieved continuously growing audience figures and attracted more and more people to handball. By deciding to extend the agreement ahead of schedule, we are underlining both our conviction and our expectation that we will continue and further develop the successful cooperation with Dyn.”
Andreas Heyden, Chief Executive Officer of Dyn, said: “The last three years have already shown the potential that emerges when a league and media partner pursue the same vision. At the same time, we are only at the beginning. Together, we want to inspire even more people to follow handball and continue to offer fans the best possible experience through innovative formats and first-class live coverage.”
According to Dyn, the Bundesliga competitions will remain the cornerstone of what it describes as the most comprehensive handball offering ever available in Germany. The platform’s rights portfolio also includes the women’s Bundesliga, the women’s DHB-Pokal, the EHF Champions League, the Women’s EHF Champions League, the men’s and women’s EHF European League, the 2026 Women’s European Championship and the men’s and women’s World Championships through 2031.
Dyn broadcasts more than 3,000 live matches per season across handball, basketball, volleyball, table tennis and hockey. The platform launched in 2023 and was named Best New Platform at the 2024 SportsPro OTT Awards.
