Velocix has appointed Patrick Ferguson as chief executive officer, succeeding Jim Brickmeier, as the streaming infrastructure specialist looks to accelerate growth in cloud-native video delivery and streaming optimisation.

Ferguson takes up the role immediately, succeeding the previous leadership team at a time when operators and service providers are increasingly investing in scalable streaming infrastructure.

He brings senior leadership experience from firms including Lumine and TiVo/Xperi, with Velocix saying he has a strong track record in driving business growth, innovation and operational transformation.

“I’m delighted to join Velocix at such an exciting and transformative time for the video technology industry,” Ferguson said. “This company has a strong reputation for helping operators deliver reliable, scalable and seamless streaming services. I look forward to working with our talented team, customers and partners to build on that foundation and accelerate the next chapter of growth.”

Velocix said the appointment reflects its increased focus on cloud-native video delivery, streaming optimisation and customer-led innovation as operators seek greater visibility and control over content delivery.

The company provides content delivery networks (CDNs), origin, storage and streaming software to telecom operators and media companies worldwide, supporting video distribution across broadband, broadcast and cloud environments.

The appointment comes as CDN and streaming infrastructure providers increasingly compete to help operators improve video quality while reducing delivery costs, with cloud-native architectures becoming a growing priority as streaming volumes continue to rise.
