Germany: Deutsche Telekom scores World Cup 2030 rights

Deutsche Telekom has secured the exclusive German media rights for the 2030 men’s football World Cup, which takes place in Spain, Portugal and Morocco.

The deal, announced by CEO Rodrigo Diehl, will see every one of the 104 matches from the centenary tournament – which kicks off on June 8th 2030 and runs until the final July 21st – broadcast exclusively on the tleco’s MagentaTV platform. A sub-licensing arrangement for the public broadcasters, ARD and ZDF, will likely be struck.


Financial terms were not disclosed.

MagentaTV recorded more than 200 million viewers for the FIFA World Cup 2026, with the England vs Norway quarter-final match alone attracting an audience of 8 million.
