TVP moved to the top of Poland’s video distributor rankings in June, helped by FIFA World Cup coverage and the Opole Music Festival, according to Nielsen.

Nielsen’s All Screens Video Landscape Report gave the public broadcaster a 19.90% audience share across TVs, PCs, laptops, smartphones and tablets. Warner Bros. Discovery, which had led the rankings throughout the year, slipped to second on 17.39%, while Polsat was close behind on 17.18%.

Nielsen said TVP’s performance was driven by major live events, including early FIFA World Cup matches, the Polish national team’s friendly against Nigeria and the broadcaster’s annual Opole Music Festival.

Lucyna Koba, Market Leader, Nielsen Poland, said June showed “the unparalleled power of major collective events to reshape distributor standings”.

“By capitalising on the dual engine of the World Cup matches and the beloved Opole Music Festival, TVP successfully disrupted the status quo to take the top spot,” she said.

Netflix returned to the top ten in ninth place with a 1.88% share, while Canal+ dropped out of the ranking. Nielsen said Netflix’s viewing continued to move towards the main TV set, with 86% of its consumption taking place on the television screen, up from 83% in May.

ByteDance, driven by TikTok viewing, completed the top ten with a 1.87% share, generated entirely from mobile and tablet screens.

Overall video reach in Poland fell 1.8% month-on-month as summer began, but average time spent viewing increased 1.2%. Nielsen said traditional linear television remained resilient and helped lift viewing duration among those who continued to watch.

Koba said the data pointed to “a highly mature market where audience engagement remains exceptionally deep”, with average time spent with video content approaching six hours.

Nielsen’s All Screens Video Landscape Report measures total household viewership in Poland across four screens, combining reach and time spent.
