Observability specialist Humans Not Robots (HNR) will use IBC2026 to unveil new capabilities for its HNR to ZERO platform, including AI workload observability and a framework designed to measure the business value of technology operations alongside cost and carbon emissions.

The company said the latest release introduces Quality of Impact (QoI), a metric that combines operational cost, energy consumption and business outcomes to help organisations evaluate the effectiveness of AI and technology workloads.

HNR said the platform has also been extended to provide observability for AI applications, enabling organisations to measure the resources consumed by individual AI workloads using the same approach already applied to media and telecommunications infrastructure.

Alongside the platform updates, HNR will participate in several industry initiatives during IBC2026. As part of the EcoFlow X project, developed with partners including Accedo, Channel 4, ITV, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and the Digital TV Group (DTG), the company will demonstrate tools for measuring the sustainability of live streaming workflows.

HNR will also showcase work undertaken as part of the ESA-backed 5G-EMERGE project, demonstrating a Media Services Framework that compares different satellite content distribution methods to assess operational efficiency and power consumption.

The announcements reflect growing interest across the media industry in applying observability techniques beyond infrastructure monitoring to include AI operations, sustainability reporting and business performance metrics, as broadcasters and streaming providers seek greater visibility into the operational impact of increasingly complex technology platforms.
