Deutsche Telekom added around one million new TV customers in Germany during the second quarter of 2026, driven by exclusive coverage of the FIFA World Cup on its TV platform MagentaTV.
According to the German telco, the vast majority of new subscribers chose one of its flexible TV tariffs. The surge helped offset continued pressure in Telekom’s broadband business, where the company reported a net loss of 20,000 broadband customers during the quarter. At the same time, it added 161,000 new FTTH fibre customers, with fibre penetration reaching 17.5% of the 13.6 million homes passed.
The exceptional TV performance contributed to a solid quarter for Telekom’s German business. Revenue in the domestic operating segment increased by 3.7% on an organic basis to €6.5 billion, while adjusted EBITDA AL rose by 2.7% to €2.7 billion.
The reported IPTV and satellite TV customer base increased by 25,000 quarter-on-quarter to 4.8 million at the end of June. On a year-on-year basis, the television customer base grew by 102,000.
Overall, Deutsche Telekom reported second-quarter revenue of €29.9 billion, up 3.3% organically year-on-year, while adjusted EBITDA AL increased by 7.3% to €11.8 billion. The company also raised its full-year guidance for free cash flow AL to around €20 billion, reflecting continued strong operational performance across the group.
