The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and Bulgarian National Television (BNT) have announced that Burgas has been selected to host the 71st Eurovision Song Contest in May 2027.

Bulgaria’s Black Sea city Burgas will welcome artists, delegations, fans, journalists and millions of viewers from around the world for three live shows. The contest will be staged at Bulgaria’s newest sports and entertainment venue, Arena Burgas, which was opened in 2023.

A full schedule of activities will take place around the contest in Burgas during Eurovision week. More details about Eurovision Village, EuroClub and the wider cultural and entertainment programme, as well as participating broadcasters, will be revealed in the coming weeks and months.

BNT and Burgas will host the Contest following DARA’s historic victory for Bulgaria at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 in Vienna with Bangaranga, securing the country’s first-ever Eurovision win.

The Grand Final of the 71st Eurovision Song Contest will take place on May 15th, with two Semi-Finals on May 11th and 13th.

Martin Green CBE, Director of the Eurovision Song Contest, commented: “We are delighted that Burgas will be the Host City for the Eurovision Song Contest 2027. Burgas brings something really special to the Eurovision Song Contest. It is a vibrant, welcoming city on the Black Sea with a strong musical and cultural identity, and it has the ambition, infrastructure and passion needed to welcome the Eurovision family. For the first Eurovision Song Contest ever to be held in Bulgaria, we want to create something that feels truly Bulgarian while also being unmistakably Eurovision – a celebration that brings people together through music. We thank all of the cities which showed such enthusiasm in their bids to host Bulgaria’s first ever Eurovision Song Contest. Together with BNT, the City of Burgas and our partners across Bulgaria, we are looking forward to creating an unforgettable Eurovision week in May and welcoming the world to Burgas.”

Dimitar Nikolov, Мayor of Вurgas, added: “It is an exceptional honour for us to host the Eurovision Song Contest 2027. I would like to thank BNT and the EBU for their trust. We are now one team, working together to make the next edition of the Contest an unforgettable experience for both the participants and the hundreds of millions of viewers around the world. As the centre of Bulgaria’s southern Black Sea coast, Burgas offers Bulgaria’s most modern arena, excellent hotels and transport connections, as well as outstanding infrastructure and natural assets. The entire Burgas region is part of our team – our municipalities, institutions, universities, schools, cultural organisations, artists, volunteers and local businesses. This is not about one city hosting Eurovision. This is Bulgaria hosting Eurovision – an entire community, united and inspired. Welcome to Burgas!”
