Narrative Entertainment has selected Nagravision’s OpenTV ENTera platform to support personalisation, audience measurement and service development across its streaming and connected TV operations.

The UK free-to-air broadcaster will use the cloud-based platform to develop richer viewer profiles and improve content discovery. It is also seeking to strengthen its first-party audience data as it develops its advertising and other digital revenue streams.

Nagravision will provide integration and certification services intended to support Narrative’s distribution across connected TV and broadcast platforms, including Freeview and YouView. Sofia Digital is also working on the deployment, providing user experience technology integrated with OpenTV ENTera.

“As we continue to evolve our digital services, our focus is on delivering highly relevant and engaging experiences while deepening our understanding of audience behaviour,” said Kate Garland, head of digital at Narrative Entertainment.

OpenTV ENTera is designed to provide a common operational layer through which broadcasters can integrate personalisation, audience management and third-party services without relying on a single technology stack.

Narrative operates the Great! network of entertainment and movie channels and the Pop children’s portfolio. Its services are distributed on Freeview, Sky and Virgin Media, alongside the Great! Player and FAST channels carried by platforms including Samsung TV Plus, LG Channels, Pluto TV, Netgem and Titan OS.

The agreement reflects Narrative’s efforts to bring together audience data from its mix of linear, on-demand and FAST services while extending the reach of its streaming products.
