Google TV expands its free live‑TV lineup as part of a broader push to make finding something to watch simpler and more seamless.

Google TV is continuing to strengthen its free live‑TV offering, adding new channels to its Freeplay service in a bid to make browsing for entertainment faster and more intuitive. The latest expansion underscores Google’s strategy of placing live programming directly alongside recommendations for movies, series and apps — reducing the friction that often comes with choosing what to watch. The new channels include World of Love Island, Bloomberg TV+, Yahoo! Sports Network, and The Martha Stewart Channel.

By embedding a more robust live‑TV experience into the Google TV interface, the platform aims to give users an immediate set of viewing options the moment they turn on their device. The newly added channels broaden that instant choice, offering more genres and real‑time programming without requiring users to open separate apps or navigate through multiple menus.

Freeplay has become a central pillar of Google TV’s approach, functioning as a dynamic, ever‑changing hub of live content. With each update, the service grows more competitive in a crowded streaming landscape where convenience and speed increasingly determine viewer loyalty.

Google has not disclosed how frequently new channels will be added, but the company’s recent pace suggests that further updates are likely. As the platform evolves, Freeplay is positioned to remain one of Google TV’s most flexible and continuously refreshed features — a way to keep users engaged by ensuring that something watchable is always just a click away.

Google TV Freeplay has also added more than 10,000 free movies and shows on demand from top studios like A24 and Lionsgate. The Freeplay channels and new on-demand catalogue are currently available in the United States only.
