Fourteen public broadcasters and partner channels across 13 countries will deliver extensive coverage of the Mediterranean Games Taranto 2026,
ensuring one of the region’s biggest multi‑sport events reaches audiences throughout Europe and North Africa.
The Games, hosted in Taranto, Italy from 21 August to 3 September, will unite athletes from Europe, Africa and Asia for two weeks of competition across 31 sports, ranging from athletics, swimming and volleyball to newer disciplines such as padel, skateboarding, 3×3 basketball and roller sports.
Coverage will be provided by EBU Members including RTSH (Albania), EPTV and Radio Algeria (Algeria), CYBC (Cyprus), RTK (Kosovo), RTP (Portugal), MRT (North Macedonia), RTCG (Montenegro), SNRT (Morocco), ERT (Greece), TRT (Türkiye) and Télévision Tunisienne (Tunisia).
They will be joined by Sport en France and OnSport Egypt, expanding the reach of the Games across both shores of the Mediterranean.
Eurovision Sport — the EBU’s free digital streaming platform — will complement national broadcasts with international coverage, offering fans additional access to live events, highlights and athlete stories throughout the competition.
The strong broadcast line‑up follows the renewal of the partnership between the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and the International Committee of the Mediterranean Games (ICMG). The collaboration builds on successful coverage of the Mediterranean Games Oran 2022 and the Mediterranean Beach Games Heraklion 2023.
Under the agreement, EBU Members will deliver the Taranto Games across television, radio and digital platforms, reinforcing public service media’s role in making major sporting events widely accessible and free‑to‑air.
The Mediterranean Games bring together National Olympic Committees from three continents, celebrating the shared heritage and sporting diversity of the region. Taranto 2026 will showcase both established Olympic sports and fast‑growing urban disciplines, reflecting the evolving landscape of international competition.
Andreas Aristodemou, Director of Olympics at EBU Sport, said the event holds a special place for the organisation and its members: “The Mediterranean Games bring together athletes and audiences from across Europe, Africa and Asia through a shared passion for sport. We’re delighted to see such a strong line‑up of broadcasters making Taranto 2026 widely accessible. Together with our Members and our Eurovision Sport platform, we look forward to showcasing the athletes, stories and sporting diversity of Taranto 2026.”
The renewed partnership between the EBU and ICMG also covers future events, including the Mediterranean Beach Games Portimão‑Lagoa 2027 in Portugal, continuing the commitment to bring major regional multi‑sport competitions to audiences free‑to‑air.
