STUDIOCANAL has launched STUDIOCANAL CLASSICS, a new global label dedicated to showcasing and revitalising its vast catalogue of classic cinema. The label, which comes with its own branding and international rollout, aims to bring renewed attention to one of the world’s largest film libraries — more than 18,000 titles spanning over a century of film history, and the biggest collection outside the United States.
Over the past seven years, STUDIOCANAL has invested nearly €25 million in 4K restorations of around 1,000 classic films, laying the groundwork for the new label. STUDIOCANAL CLASSICS is designed to appeal both to traditional cinephiles and to younger audiences discovering classic cinema through platforms such as Letterboxd.
The first theatrical releases under the label include a 4K restoration of Michael Mann’s Manhunter: The Final Cut, a worldwide re‑release of James Cameron’s Terminator 2: Judgment Day, and a new 4K version of Guillermo del Toro’s Pan’s Labyrinth. Upcoming home‑entertainment titles include the Blood Simple Director’s Cut, Inside Llewyn Davis, Accident, Chaplin, and Un Flic.
Looking ahead, STUDIOCANAL CLASSICS has already announced a major highlight for 2027: a new curated David Lynch collection, further expanding its slate of restored and reintroduced classics.
The launch underscores STUDIOCANAL’s strategy to elevate its heritage catalogue, combining premium restorations with curated releases that make classic cinema accessible to new generations of viewers.
