Airbus is to set sell its Florida satellite building factory according to an FT report. The site was once part of a joint-venture between Airbus and OneWeb. OneWeb, ow owned by Eutelsat, subsequently withdrew from the joint-venture with Airbus taking full control in 2024.
The site turned out around 650 satellites for OneWeb.
Airbus is refocusing its efforts on European manufacturing in particular at its Toulouse factory where it is building more satellites for Eutelsat’s OneWeb.
The Airbus Florida factory (on Merritt Island near the Kennedy Space Center) employed about 200 staff.
