Data: UK ranks 2nd in 5G SA test share in Europe
September 1, 2026
According to nPerf data, the UK ranks second in 5G SA test share between January and July 2026, among the top 10 European countries. 5G SA, or Standalone 5G, relies on a fully 5G core network, unlike non-standalone 5G, which still uses 4G.
With 31.3 per cent of tests conducted on this network, the country outperforms Switzerland (25.1 per cent) and France (23.8 per cent).
Advanced adoption of Standalone 5G
The UK has a 5G SA test share of 31.3 per cent, ranking just behind Austria (31.9 per cent). This rate reflects significant progress towards the adoption of Standalone 5G, which offers lower latency and better network efficiency compared to non-standalone 5G.
Significant disparities between countries
Disparities remain significant across Europe: Switzerland achieves 25.1 per cent of 5G SA test share, while France records 23.8 per cent. At the other end of the ranking, Greece shows a rate of 8.2 per cent, highlighting the differences in technological advancement between countries.
