German media company Your Family Entertainment (YFE) is expanding into Poland with the launch of its children’s channels Fix&Foxi Channel and RiC.today.

Orange Polska is the first Polish operator to add both services to its TV offering.

The two channels launched on 1 September 2006, marking YFE’s entry into the Polish market. Fix&Foxi Channel is available as a fully localised Polish-language service, while RiC.today offers English-language educational programming.

Orange Polska customers can find Fix&Foxi Channel on EPG position 563 and RiC.today on position 577. The distribution deal was facilitated by Warsaw-based MediaSpurs, YFE’s representative in Poland.

Fix&Foxi Channel is aimed at children aged four to 12 and combines animated series with educational entertainment. The Polish service features Polish dubbing and a locally curated schedule, including titles such as Little Bear, Marvin, the Tap-Dancing Horse, Timothy Goes to School and Oscar the Balloonist. It will also premiere new and exclusive titles in Poland.

The channel is based on the Fix&Foxi comic characters created by German illustrator Rolf Kauka. According to YFE, more than 780 million Fix&Foxi comics have been sold worldwide.

RiC.today complements the offer with English-language programming designed to support children’s learning through stories, music and discovery. Its content covers areas including language, science, art and nature.

The channel, which has been developed in collaboration with educators and psychologists, is also adding new programming in September. From 7 September, Beadies and Friends will combine music, imagination and play with early-learning themes, while the animated series Tutenstein will continue to feature comedy, action and friendship.

“Polish families already have plenty of children’s channels to choose from,” said Lukasz Wysocki, Managing Director of MediaSpurs, adding that Fix&Foxi Channel combines international programming with local content and that Orange Polska provides a strong launch partner.

According to Armin Schnell, YFE Executive Vice-President Sales, the company’s channels are now available in more than 70 countries. “We’re not here to add more noise, but to offer something families can rely on every day,” he said.

Further carriage agreements for both channels are in development, stress the companies, with YFE and MediaSpurs planning additional operator announcements and promotional activities in Poland.
