iWedia adds Edge AI self-healing and broadband telemetry to Teatro Pulse

TV software provider iWedia is expanding its Teatro Pulse TV service operations platform with Edge AI-powered self-healing for set-top boxes and broadband telemetry covering the wider home network.

According to the Swiss company, the two enhancements are designed to help telecom and pay-TV operators diagnose service problems more quickly and reduce the need for support calls, escalations and field visits.

Edge AI is being used directly on set-top boxes to detect abnormal behaviour and interpret diagnostic data. Rather than requiring support teams to analyse raw logs, the device can identify and surface the likely cause of a problem, allowing operators to identify issues before they become apparent to subscribers.

The company plans to move towards more autonomous operations, with automated issue resolution controlled by operator-defined policies.

The second enhancement extends Teatro Pulse’s visibility beyond the set-top box. Broadband telemetry provides a view of the service path from the internet connection through the home network and set-top box to the TV screen.

According to iWedia, this enables support teams to distinguish between problems such as a degraded broadband connection and a complete outage, as well as verify when service has been restored. The approach is intended to reduce cases where technicians are sent to homes even though the set-top box is not the source of the problem.

“Operators have invested heavily in device management and telemetry over the last decade. The next challenge is not collecting more data, but turning it into decisions,” said Nikola Teslic, CTO at iWedia. “Edge AI helps the device understand its own state. Broadband telemetry gives operators sight of everything around it. Together, they move device operations from reacting to subscriber complaints towards preventing them.”

The enhancements form part of iWedia’s broader End-to-End DTV Device Operations strategy, which connects software delivery, automated testing, deployment, device management and operational intelligence across the device lifecycle.

Teatro Pulse is one of three components of iWedia’s Teatro Factory offering, alongside Teatro Cx and Teatro Test Lab.

iWedia will demonstrate the new broadband telemetry capabilities and its Edge AI approach to device operations at IBC 2026 in Amsterdam, where it will exhibit in Hall 5, stand 5.C75.
