Brightcove has launched Brightcove Gen 2, describing it as the biggest update to its online video platform in several years, with new AI tools designed to help media companies, broadcasters and enterprises automate video workflows and increase monetisation.

Unveiled ahead of IBC2026, Gen 2 brings together more than 22 new product innovations and 30 platform enhancements introduced over the past 18 months.

The platform focuses on three areas: helping customers generate more revenue from video, reducing operational complexity through automation, and strengthening the platform’s core infrastructure while accelerating product development.

Among the headline additions is the AI Agentic Hub, which Brightcove says moves beyond conventional AI assistants by allowing users to specify a desired outcome rather than individual tasks. The system then coordinates AI agents across the platform to analyse content, manage metadata, optimise workflows and configure video experiences through a conversational interface.

The AI Agentic Hub is already available to selected production customers and will be demonstrated publicly for the first time at IBC before a broader rollout.

The launch also builds on recent additions including the redesigned Prism interface, enhanced monetisation tools, localisation and accessibility features, Next-Gen Live capabilities and AI-powered workflow automation.

Facundo Alvarez Morales, Brightcove’s Head of Product, said the platform is designed to help video teams reach more audiences, personalise content and generate greater value without increasing headcount.

Since being acquired by Bending Spoons in late 2024, Brightcove has accelerated product development, and Gen 2 represents the first major platform milestone under its new ownership.

The AI Agentic Hub reflects the industry’s shift from AI assistants that answer questions to AI agents capable of completing multi-step tasks autonomously. Similar concepts are now appearing across cloud software, but Brightcove is among the first enterprise video platforms to integrate agentic AI across media workflows.
