TiVo has unveiled a major update to its TiVo OS smart TV platform at IFA 2026, adding AI-powered content discovery, enhanced sports features, DVB-I support and new interactive TV capabilities, while appointing former VIDAA executive Tal Bone as general manager.
The update is designed to improve content discovery for consumers while lowering hardware requirements for TV manufacturers, enabling TiVo OS to run on devices with as little as 1GB RAM and 4GB of storage.
A key addition is Agent TiVo, an upcoming generative AI assistant that will allow viewers to find content using natural language rather than traditional keyword searches, delivering personalised recommendations across streaming and live TV services.
TiVo is also expanding its free streaming offering with hundreds of additional FAST channels and a redesigned TiVo Channels interface featuring a new programme guide, mini guide and personalised content recommendations.
Recognising the importance of live sport, the platform now offers enhanced sports discovery across search, recommendations and the home screen, making it easier for viewers to find live events.
The company has also added DVB-I support, allowing broadcasters to deliver television services over broadband without requiring an aerial, further integrating broadcast and streaming services within a single interface.
New interactive capabilities come through a partnership with IRCODE, combining AI and computer vision to recognise on-screen content and enable interactive shopping, advertising and companion experiences.
Alongside the product announcements, TiVo appointed Tal Bone as Senior Vice President and General Manager of TiVo OS. Bone joins from Hisense’s VIDAA platform, where he helped grow the operating system to more than 40 million monthly active users, having previously led Fire TV initiatives across Europe at Amazon.
Geir Skaaden, Chief Products and Services Officer at Xperi, said Bone’s experience would help accelerate TiVo OS’s expansion across global markets.
TiVo will demonstrate the latest version of TiVo OS at IFA Berlin, including its forthcoming AI-powered discovery experience.
