Video technology company Kaltura and content protection provider Verimatrix have entered into a strategic partnership to strengthen content protection for OTT and cloud TV services.

The agreement combines Kaltura’s cloud TV platform with Verimatrix’s digital rights management (DRM) and anti-piracy technologies. The joint solution will be offered through Kaltura’s marketplace and is aimed at telecom operators, broadcasters and media companies delivering live and on-demand premium content across connected TVs, set-top boxes, mobile devices and web applications.

The partnership will include the full migration of existing customers, with the transition to be carried out over the coming months, according to the companies.

The integrated offering provides multi-DRM protection, secure content delivery and additional safeguards against piracy, credential sharing and unauthorised access. The companies said the approach is designed to scale from established services to rapidly growing OTT platforms while simplifying integration and deployment.

“Security and content protection are fundamental components of every successful streaming service,” said Oren Ben Kohav, SVP Sales and Delivery Media and Telecom at Kaltura. “As demand for premium streaming grows, our customers need security that scales with them. Our partnership with Verimatrix lets us offer a proven, flexible, and scalable security solution as an integrated part of their cloud TV experience, so operators can protect their premium content while continuing to innovate and deliver engaging viewing experiences.”

Carlo Stramaglia, Head of Anti-Piracy Business at Verimatrix, added: “Quality content deserves security that keeps pace with it, and operators can’t afford to compromise on that as streaming scales. Partnering with Kaltura means bringing proven content protection and anti-piracy technology directly into the Cloud TV workflows. Together, we can add value for existing and new customers by helping them safeguard their content and subscriber revenue as they grow.”

The partnership comes as streaming providers face growing pressure to protect premium content and subscriber revenues from piracy, password sharing and unauthorised redistribution.

Kaltura is also positioning its cloud TV platform around new AI-driven viewer engagement tools. Its agentic avatars use real-time conversational AI in more than 30 languages to interact with viewers and generate media based on their requests. Applications include helping viewers find sports matches or highlights and recommending relevant content.

Kaltura and Verimatrix will present the integrated security solution at IBC 2026 in Amsterdam from 11 to 14 September. Kaltura will demonstrate the solution alongside its cloud TV platform and agentic avatars at booth 5.A68, while Verimatrix will be at booth 1.BS20.
