XroadMedia to provide personalisation for Rogers Sports & Media streaming services

XroadMedia is working with Rogers Sports & Media to introduce AI-powered personalisation across the Canadian media company’s entertainment streaming services discovery+ and Citytv+.
The rollout is starting this month with personalised recommendations on discovery+, providing users with tailored content suggestions when they sign in. Further phases are planned to add personalised search, dynamic content pages and targeted notifications across the services.
The initiative is intended to increase engagement with the platforms and help viewers discover more content from their respective catalogues.
XroadMedia’s Piloto editorial control layer will form part of the deployment. The technology allows content, marketing and editorial teams to influence and curate personalised recommendations rather than relying solely on automated algorithms.
Teams working across discovery+ and Citytv+ will also use XroadMedia’s recently introduced AI assistant. According to the company, the tool enables teams to configure and deploy new personalisation use cases more quickly without requiring lengthy training.
“We’re excited to be working with such a dominant name within Canada,” said Adolf Proidl, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of XroadMedia. “While personalisation is key to keeping users engaged and returning to platforms, editorial control is non-negotiable for brands like Rogers Sports & Media. Personalisation can’t come at the expense of the curated, editorially driven experience their viewers expect. That’s exactly what Piloto delivers, giving our customers’ teams full control over how personalised recommendations show up on their platforms.”
Based in Vienna, Austria, XroadMedia specialises in AI-powered personalisation for media companies. The company’s technology is currently deployed in more than 50 projects worldwide involving operators, streaming services and broadcasters. Customers include Vodafone, A1 Telekom Austria Group, UKTV and Three.
