Big Blue Marble is supporting French infrastructure and network operator TDF as a technology partner in the next phase of its large-scale 5G Broadcast deployment in France.
Big Blue Marble is providing its Nakolos 5G Broadcast Core technology and working with TDF on the technical implementation and rollout of 5G Broadcast services. The partnership follows work on TDF’s 5G Broadcast launch event in Paris on June 25.
TDF has already activated an initial 5G Broadcast coverage area across Paris, Reims, Bourges and Le Havre, enabling television, radio and public warning services to be delivered directly to compatible mobile devices without a SIM card, Wi-Fi connection or mobile data subscription.
Big Blue Marble says the latest phase will provide operational experience of 5G Broadcast at scale, while helping validate interoperability across the wider technology ecosystem and establish a foundation for further deployment in France.
Jérôme Andres, Marketing Director at TDF, said the collaboration with Big Blue Marble had developed positively, highlighting the company’s 5G Broadcast expertise and flexible approach to implementation.
The Nakolos 5G Broadcast Core is based on 3GPP standards and provides broadcasters and network operators with a platform for delivering media and public warning services directly to mobile devices.
Big Blue Marble says Nakolos already supports all 5G Broadcast-related capabilities introduced in 3GPP Release 19. Its cloud-native architecture is designed to provide scalability and flexibility as 5G Broadcast standards and commercial requirements develop.
The companies say the collaboration positions Nakolos as part of one of Europe’s major ongoing 5G Broadcast initiatives, supporting scalable and resilient delivery of broadcast and public services to mobile audiences.
