Stingray has expanded its free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) offering by launching 17 localised music channels on Rakuten TV across nine European markets.
The rollout makes the channels available in France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and the UK, with programming tailored to local musical tastes rather than a single pan-European lineup.
Each territory receives its own version of the Total Hits channel, while the portfolio also includes country-specific services such as Éxitos Latinos in Spain, Italia Disco in Italy, Chansons in France, PiratenHits and Soft Hits NL in the Netherlands, Greatest Hits in the UK, Fado Classics in Portugal, Schlager in Germany and ’80s & ’90s Pop in Germany and Sweden.
David Purdy, Chief Revenue Officer at Stingray, said the partnership reflects the company’s strategy of delivering music programming that matches regional tastes.
He said: “Our collaboration with Rakuten TV highlights our commitment to delivering music that truly speaks to local audiences. By focusing on regional tastes, we are providing Rakuten TV users with a premium entertainment experience that celebrates their unique musical heritage.”
The agreement further strengthens Rakuten TV’s FAST channel lineup and continues Stingray’s expansion across connected TV platforms, as broadcasters and streaming services increasingly invest in curated, advertising-supported channels aimed at specific audiences and genres.
All 17 channels are available to stream free through the Rakuten TV platform.
