A1 Group has renewed a multi-year satellite capacity agreement with Eutelsat, extending its use of multiple transponders at the operator’s 16° East orbital position to support direct-to-home television services in Croatia and broadcast distribution across central and eastern Europe.

The agreement covers A1 Croatia’s DTH television platform as well as signal transport, uplink and encryption services for a number of broadcasters across the region.

Eutelsat said the renewal reinforces the importance of its 16° East video neighbourhood, which serves more than 80 million direct-to-home, cable and IPTV households and carries more than 600 television channels across central and eastern Europe.

Jakub Brzeczkowski, regional vice-president of video sales for Europe at Eutelsat, said the agreement underlined the continuing role of the 16° East position as a key distribution hub for broadcasters serving the Balkans and wider central and eastern Europe.

Elena Petrova, head of group content and media solution at A1 Group, said satellite remained an important part of delivering television services across Croatia and the region, adding that the agreement would ensure continued access to reliable coverage and broadcast services.

The renewal comes as satellite operators continue to position hybrid satellite and IP distribution as a resilient option for broadcasters alongside growing investment in streaming and cloud-based delivery.
