Sky has extended its exclusive UK and Ireland rights to the US Open for a further three years, keeping the tournament on Sky Sports until the end of 2030.
The agreement with the United States Tennis Association (USTA), negotiated by IMG, covers exclusive live coverage of the men’s and women’s singles, doubles, mixed doubles, junior and wheelchair competitions throughout the tournament.
As well as live coverage, viewers will be able to access clips and highlights across Sky’s digital and social platforms.
Jonathan Licht, chief executive of Sky Sports UK and Ireland, said the extension reinforced Sky’s commitment to innovation and world-class sports coverage, while strengthening its position as the home of sport in the UK and Ireland. “The US Open is one of the highlights of the sporting calendar, featuring the biggest names in both the men’s and women’s games, all set against the spectacular New York backdrop.”
The renewal builds on Sky’s enhanced US Open coverage, which this year included augmented reality graphics, advanced data analysis, touchscreen presentation tools and behind-the-scenes features.
Kirsten Corio, chief commercial officer at the USTA, said the renewed agreement would help deepen tennis fans’ connection with the sport through continued innovative coverage.
Sky broadcasts more than 4,000 tennis matches and 80 tournaments each season, including the ATP and WTA Tours. The US Open extension adds to a sports rights portfolio that includes the Premier League, Formula 1, England cricket, the golf majors, NFL, rugby league, darts and boxing.
