TiVo has unveiled Agent TiVo, a conversational AI assistant designed to help viewers discover and engage with television and streaming content using natural language.
The new platform allows users to search by voice or text, moving beyond keyword searches by enabling conversational requests based on mood, genre, actors, sports teams, quotes or availability. Viewers can refine recommendations through follow-up questions before selecting content to watch.
Kevin Lenhart, general manager of pay TV at Xperi, said Agent TiVo combines conversational AI with the company’s existing voice, discovery and personalisation technologies to help viewers spend less time searching and more time watching.
Natrual language was regularly brought up at meetings during IBC2026 where TiVo was also present.
Unlike general-purpose AI assistants, Agent TiVo has been developed specifically for entertainment, offering personalised recommendations based on viewing habits and explaining why programmes are suggested.
The platform uses a hybrid architecture that combines large language models with TiVo’s existing voice technology. According to TiVo, the system intelligently routes queries to the most appropriate models, reducing processing costs and latency while allowing operators to retain control over branding and the user experience.
TiVo says the platform can be integrated into existing deployments without major infrastructure changes and has been designed as a white-label solution for pay TV operators and entertainment platforms.
Agent TiVo forms part of Xperi’s broader strategy to improve content discovery and viewer engagement across connected TVs, pay TV platforms and streaming services.
