Sky Italia is relaunching Sky Mobile as a directly managed mobile virtual network operator (MVNO), with the objective of strengthening its strategy of bundling television, fixed broadband and mobile services.

The new Sky Mobile launches today using the Fastweb + Vodafone network and replaces the existing arrangement under which Sky’s mobile service was powered by Fastweb. Existing customers will be offered the option of moving to the new service.

“The launch of the new Sky Mobile marks an important step in our growth strategy,” said Andrea Duilio, Chief Executive of Sky Italia. “As an MVNO, we can now offer solutions tailored to customers’ needs and attractive terms for those who have been with us for some time.”

Two 5G tariffs are being introduced. Sky Mobile Maxi costs €7.90 per month with 150GB of data, while Mobile Ultra costs €9.90 with 250GB. Both include unlimited calls and 200 texts.

Existing Sky customers receive enhanced allowances, with Maxi increased to 250GB and Ultra offering unlimited data. Ultra customers who have been with Sky for at least six years will also receive six months free, while customers with shorter tenure receive two months.

Data becomes unlimited when new customers combine Sky Mobile with either Sky TV or Sky Wi-Fi.

The move gives Sky Italia direct control over the mobile proposition and allows it to integrate mobile more closely with its existing television and fixed broadband services. A combined Sky TV, Sky Mobile and Sky Wi-Fi package starts at €35.90 per month for 18 months.

Other bundles include Sky TV and Mobile for €25.99 per month for 18 months and Mobile with Sky Wi-Fi for €29.90 for 12 months. Existing Sky TV customers adding both Mobile and Wi-Fi can take the two connectivity services for €20.90 per month for the first six months.

Sky Mobile will use the network infrastructure of Fastweb + Vodafone, the operator created following Swisscom’s acquisition of Vodafone Italia and its combination with Fastweb.

The relaunch further develops Sky Italia’s move beyond pay-TV into telecommunications, following the introduction of its Sky Wi-Fi fixed broadband service.
