MIP London axed after 2 years
September 23, 2026
The MIP London market launched in 2025 as a replacement for the closed MIPTV April show in Cannes. Now, after just two years, owners Reed Exhibitions (RX) are closing London.
In its place comes a two-day conference called MIP Talks which will run alongside The London Book Fair, which is another RX event. The next Book Fair event takes place in March 2027.
Running at the same time as the London TV Screenings, MIP London took place in London’s Savoy Hotel. MIP London struggled to establish itself in a crowded market. It had around 2,000 attendees for its 2026 show in February, which was down on 2025, and had to compete with distributors already holding their own events in London as part of the Screenings.
RX says MIP Talks will bring together voices from the worlds of entertainment, media and culture, exploring which IP is breaking through and where opportunities are emerging.
Drawing estimated 30,000 visitors per year, the London Book Fair is held in the Dockland’s ExCel venue. RX hopes that launching MIP Talks alongside its sister show will bolster connections between the TV and literary communities.
