CBeebies reviving Play School with Parenting Promise
September 24, 2026

CBeebies has launched its Parenting Promise, setting out its commitment “to help every child learn through play and giving parents and carers greater insight into the principles behind the programmes their children love”.

The announcement comes as the BBC has additionally announced that Play School – the iconic pre-school show that originally ran from 1964 to 1988 – is set to return for a new generation as BBC Children’s & Education invites producers to pitch for a reboot.

The CBeebies Parenting Promise seeks to make visible the standards that have guided CBeebies for almost 25 years and helped earn the trust of generations of families.

Patricia Hidalgo, Director of BBC Children’s & Education, commented: “Parents and carers place enormous trust in CBeebies and that is a responsibility we never take for granted. The CBeebies Parenting Promise sets out the principles that guide every decision we make. Behind every programme is a team of experts, programme makers and storytellers committed to creating content that helps children learn, grow and thrive.

Hidalgo added: “In a changing media landscape, we believe trusted, high-quality children’s content has never been more important. Play School has always embodied so much of what CBeebies stands for: creativity, curiosity, imagination and learning through play. Bringing it back for a new generation is a meaningful opportunity to build on that legacy, while continuing to support parents and carers through CBeebies Parenting and the wider commitment set out in our Parenting Promise.”
