BBC Three to be axed again?
September 24, 2026
BBC Three is at risk of being shuttered (again) in a round of cuts set to be revealed by the BBC in the coming days.
The corporation is readying to announce the closure of a number of TV and radio services as Director-general Matt Brittin continues his efforts to make £500 million (€581.4m) in savings, reports Deadline.
BBC Three is said to be regarded by insiders as “vulnerable”, whilst there is also speculation that the BBC Scotland channel could face the chop.
The linear version of BBC Three was originally closed in February 2016, with content pushed to BBC iPlayer. It was then revived in February 2022 as a stand-alone channel, broadcasting from 7pm every night.
