Deutsche Telekom has acquired the exclusive German media rights to the Basketball Champions League (BCL), expanding MagentaSport’s live basketball offering ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The new BCL season starts on 6 October, with four German clubs competing: German champions ALBA Berlin, BMA365 Bamberg Baskets, Telekom Baskets Bonn and RASTA Vechta.

MagentaSport, part of Telekom’s TV platform MagentaTV, will show all matches involving the four German teams live and exclusively. From the quarter-finals onwards, the service will also carry every BCL game, including the semi-finals and final at the Final Four. Up to 64 matches will be available live during the season, with selected highlights also offered.

All matches involving German teams and the Final Four will feature German commentary.

“MagentaSport remains Home of Basketball. Following the extension of our cooperation with the German Basketball Federation, we are sending another strong signal as an innovative partner of the sport to make basketball even more popular and visible,” said Dorothea Jacob, Vice President Proposition & Content MagentaTV. “And of course, together with all basketball fans, we are keeping our fingers crossed for our German teams to have a successful season on the European stage.”

Patrick Comninos, CEO of the Basketball Champions League, added: “We are very pleased to welcome MagentaSport as the exclusive home of the Basketball Champions League in Germany. Germany is one of Europe’s leading basketball markets. With four German clubs in the competition this season and MagentaSport’s excellent reach and coverage, we look forward to bringing the Basketball Champions League even closer to fans across the country.”

The 2026/27 Basketball Champions League features 32 teams. The Regular Season runs from 6 October to 23 December, with the clubs divided into eight groups of four playing home and away.

The eight group winners advance directly to the Round of 16. The second- and third-placed teams enter the Play-Ins to determine the remaining eight places in the next phase.

The Round of 16 is played in four groups of four, with the group winners advancing to the quarter-finals. The quarter-final series are played in a best-of-three format, with the winners progressing to the Final Four.

Rytas Vilnius of Lithuania enters the new season as defending champion.

The BCL rights, previously held by competing streaming service Dyn, add another major European competition to MagentaSport’s basketball portfolio. The service already holds exclusive rights to the EuroLeague, featuring FC Bayern Munich, as well as rights to the BKT EuroCup.

MagentaSport shows all matches involving German teams in the BKT EuroCup during the group stage, followed by the entire play-off phase.

The platform also carries the men’s and women’s FIBA Basketball World Cups and European Championships, the U19 and U17 World Championships, selected games involving Germany’s national teams and the FIBA 3×3 World and European Championships.
