BT has announced that it will launch a new BT TV service on October 15th. Bringing together live TV, streaming services and popular content in one place, and powered by BT’s broadband, BT TV will deliver “a seamless experience for households who value trust, reliability and simplicity”.
BT says the launch marks an “important milestone” for its brand, completing its connected offering across broadband, TV and mobile.
BT TV also reflects BT’s broader strategic commitment of serving different customer needs through its family of brands. With more ways to watch than ever before, many households now juggle multiple apps, subscriptions and devices to access the content they love. BT TV seeks to cut through that complexity by bringing live TV, streaming services and other content together in one place, making it easier for customers to discover and access their desired entertainment and sport content.
The service will launch alongside the BT TV Box Pro combining the convenience of streaming with the ability to pause, rewind live TV and record over 600 hours of TV. For those who prefer a simpler streaming experience, the compact BT TV Box Edge makes it easy to access and save on-demand and catch-up shows. Combined with a single search experience that brings content from multiple services together in one place, BT TV helps customers find the content they desire more easily, so they can spend less time searching and more time watching.
Luciano Oliveira, Managing Director Products, Consumer, BT, commented: “Finding something great to watch shouldn’t mean navigating a maze of apps, subscriptions and devices. We’ve designed BT TV to bring customers’ entertainment and sport together, making it easier to find what they love, and giving them the freedom to watch live, record their favourites and catch-up when it suits them. Combined with BT broadband, it gives customers a simpler, more complete connected experience from the provider they know and trust.”
BT’s first foray into sports broadcasting first came with BT Sport in June 2012, which it established after acquiring rights to Premier League. football. In May 2022, BT announced a deal with Warner Bros Discovery to form a joint venture that would eventually merge BT Sport with its local Eurosport business. BT Sport rebranded as TNT Sports in July 2023 and absorbed Eurosport UK in February 2025.
The news comes on the heels of fellow telco Vodafone also announcing a new UK TV service.
