Racecourse Media Group (RMG) has agreed long-term extensions covering the audio-visual and data rights of 33 of its British racecourse shareholders.
The new agreements run until December 31, 2033 and cover RMG’s full media and data rights portfolio, including streaming, direct-to-home broadcasting, terrestrial television, international betting and non-betting rights, and pre-race and race-day data.
The 33 racecourses have committed to a further five-year term more than two years ahead of the expiry of their existing agreements at the end of 2028.
They include Jockey Club Racecourses, York, Goodwood and Ayr, as well as 16 smaller independent racecourses.
The renewals mean major events including the Randox Grand National, Cheltenham Gold Cup, Derby, Sussex Stakes and International Stakes will remain within RMG’s portfolio until at least 2034.
“RMG is a force for good in British racing, and our racecourse members continue to invest in and grow the sport,” said outgoing RMG Chair Conor Grant.
“These renewals provide important certainty for racecourses at a time when the wider betting and media landscape continues to evolve.”
RMG CEO Nick Mills highlighted the group’s ownership structure, under which profits are returned to its racecourse shareholders.
“These renewals provide a strong platform from which we can continue growing revenues and maximising returns on behalf of our shareholders,” he said.
RMG’s businesses include pay-TV channel Racing TV, international betting broadcast service GBI Racing and Racecourse Data Company. Racing TV carries coverage from 34 British and all 26 Irish racecourses, while RMG has streaming integrations with more than 60 bookmaker brands in the UK and Ireland.
Content from 36 UK racecourses is also distributed to around 5,900 betting shops in the UK and Ireland through RMG’s partnership with SIS.
