Merged Paramount/WBD named Skydance

David Ellison, Paramount CEO, has confirmed that the combined Paramount / Warner Bros Discovery (WBD) company will be named Skydance. Ellison will also serve as CEO of Skydance, with the merger set to be complete within the next few days..

Skydance was the name of the production company that Ellison founded in 2006, inspired by his love of aviation. When Ellison took control of Paramount in 2025, he renamed that company Paramount Skydance.


Ellison said the new name was intended to establish a distinct corporate identity without diminishing the legacy of either studio. “Paramount and Warner Bros shaped over a century of culture” he said in a social media post, adding that the merged companies would create “a creative-first home for bold, quality storytelling”.
