South Korean operator LG U+ has selected Bango’s Digital Vending Machine (DVM) to expand the range of subscription services offered through its Udok platform.

Udok aggregates subscription products across streaming, lifestyle, artificial intelligence and education, allowing customers to discover, purchase and manage individual services and bundles through a single platform.

The integration with Bango will give LG U+ access to additional international and domestic subscription providers, while enabling the operator to introduce new bundles, discounts and promotional offers without establishing separate integrations with each provider.

The agreement gives Cambridge-based Bango a significant additional distribution partner in East Asia. LG U+ has more than 30 million wireless subscriptions across its mobile, MVNO and IoT businesses and also operates broadband and IPTV services in South Korea.

“Customer needs are constantly evolving, and we want Udok to evolve with them,” said Yongsung Cho, Head of Partnership Business at LG U+. “The Digital Vending Machine from Bango gives us the agility to expand our subscription offering quickly and efficiently.”

Bango’s DVM provides the underlying subscription management infrastructure, including onboarding providers and handling activations, upgrades, downgrades, promotional offers and cancellations. It also supplies operators with data on customer engagement with individual services and bundles.

The platform is increasingly being positioned beyond telecoms, with Bango targeting banks and retailers alongside operators as distributors of third-party subscriptions.

“LG U+ is building a compelling subscription proposition with Udok, giving customers access to a wide range of services and offers through a single platform,” said Bango CEO Paul Larbey.

The agreement reflects a broader move among telecom operators to develop their billing relationships and customer platforms into subscription marketplaces, aggregating streaming and other digital services alongside traditional connectivity products.
