Media Press Group has acquired AKPA Polska Press from Bauer Media, its fifth strategic transaction in just over a year.

The European entertainment metadata provider has acquired 100% of the Polish media services company, adding editorial, photographic and publishing capabilities to its existing metadata and content technology operations. Financial terms have not been disclosed.

AKPA operates a photographic agency and provides publishers and other media companies with journalism, images, video, programme information and ready-to-publish material.

Media Press Group plans to combine these services with its TV and streaming metadata infrastructure, including its MP API and OpenID products. The company provides data and technology used for EPGs, streaming interfaces, search, recommendation and content discovery.

The transaction continues a period of consolidation by Media Press Group. Since September 2025 it has acquired MediaData TV in Spain and Latin America, TVControl in Greece and the EPG and content discovery operations of Portugal’s Impresa. It has also made a strategic investment in Italy’s DataTV.

Media Press Group says the strategy is designed to combine local editorial operations with common technology and standardised data structures, allowing broadcasters, operators, streaming platforms and publishers to use the company across multiple territories.

“AKPA brings outstanding journalistic, editorial and photographic expertise to the Group, while preserving the local knowledge and customer relationships that have made it successful in Poland,” said Media Press Group CEO Magdalena Cechnicka.

AKPA will retain its existing brand, team, photographic resources and customer relationships following the acquisition.
