A meeting was held in Bremen, Germany this week to review the next stage of the IRIS2 mega-constellation as far as the MEO elements was concerned. SES is the lead voice within the SpaceRISE consortium and responsible for the MEO satellites as part of the IRIS2 project.
SES came together with German manufacturer OHB, the EU Commission and the European Space Agency to launch the next phase of implementation activities for IRIS˛.
“Working closely with our partners, we are helping build Europe’s next-generation resilient communications infrastructure. As part of this effort, SES will deliver the payloads, satellite integration and operational capabilities for the MEO segment, while OHB will provide the 18 satellite platforms,” said SES in a LinkedIn post.
“From discussions on the roadmap ahead to a visit to the facilities where the platforms will be assembled, integrated and tested, the kick-off meeting highlighted both the ambition of the programme and the expertise behind it,” added SES. “Together, we are turning Europe’s vision for resilient, secure connectivity into reality.”
