Samsung TV Plus has signed a multi-territory agreement with BBC Studios to launch four FAST channels across 11 European markets, including the first dedicated EastEnders channel in the Benelux region.
Announced at MIPCOM Cannes, the agreement will see BBC Lifestyle launch in Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg.
The channel will offer more than 150 hours of programming across participating markets, covering food, home and design, travel and health. Titles include Rachel Khoo’s Kitchen Notebook, DIY SOS, Rick Stein’s culinary travel programmes and The Great British Sewing Bee*, with content tailored to individual territories.
Two further channels, BBC History and BBC Food, will launch in Spain. BBC History will feature documentaries from the BBC’s factual catalogue, while BBC Food will draw on its extensive collection of cookery programming.
Meanwhile, a dedicated EastEnders channel will launch in the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg, featuring episodes of the long-running BBC soap from its 2022 to 2025 seasons.
Chris Gregory, Head of Content Development at Samsung TV Plus EMEA, said: “BBC Studios is one of the world’s most trusted providers of IP, and this partnership brings that premium quality to Samsung TV Plus. From lifestyle and history to flagship drama, we’re offering audiences the content they know and love.”
Gregory said the agreement demonstrated the breadth of BBC Studios’ programming and supported Samsung’s strategy of expanding its European FAST offering with recognised content tailored to local audiences.
The deal extends an existing relationship between the two companies. BBC Studios already distributes a number of FAST channels through Samsung TV Plus, including in Spain, where it has been expanding its channels and streaming operations.
