Classic FM has launched its new radio station dedicated to classical Christmas music.

The channel is branded ‘Classic FM Christmas’ and offers a full schedule of festive music, providing listeners with a soundtrack of much-loved carols, orchestral and choral favourites, and iconic film scores from Christmas classics such as Home Alone and Love Actually.

Sally Ardis, Managing Director of Global’s Music Brands, commented: “There’s nothing quite like the first Christmas song of the year to get you into the festive spirit, and we’re delighted to bring listeners a whole station dedicated to those songs they know and love.”

Joseph Zubier, Managing Editor of Classic FM, added: “Christmas and classical music are a perfect match, so launching Classic FM Christmas for the very first time is the most natural next step for our brand. We look forward to welcoming first-time and current listeners to our new station. From traditional carols to iconic festive film scores, we know people everywhere love the music that makes this season special. Classic FM Christmas brings it all together, celebrating the most wonderful music of the year.”

The channel arrives with a campaign that sees presenter and singer Aled Jones thawed from a giant block of ice and then breaking into his classic Walking in the Air song from The Snowman, signalling that Christmas is upon us.
